Senijari believes in reinterpreting the traditional in order to remain relevant and contemporary. One of the new interpretations of the Malay heritage handwoven textile, the “Songket" we introduced the Songket made of organza silk threads.
Senijari’s bags share the same design philosophy with our shawls and jewellery.
Our bags are meticulously handcrafted using the softest italian leather in our workshop in Rome and are combined with the regal kelantanese songket in modern hues such as taupe, black, cream and pastels.
The combination of contemporary silhouettes and traditional textiles results in a truly exquisite and unique aesthetic.
Senijari introduced its first range of leather jewellery in August 2017. Our founder Suryani was inspired to create a range of leather jewellery after a trip to Istanbul, where she spotted eye-catching and dramatic designs of leather jewellery, which was Argentinian in origin. Senijari’s designs were inspired by Asian tribal jewellery, but are handmade and crafted in our Italian leather workshop in Rome using the finest Italian leather.
Senijari believes that one of the effective strategies to revive ancient crafts is to innovate and apply new applications and design approaches for the crafts.
Senijari soon to be re-launched home collection offers fresh perspectives for Malaysian songket through using inspired designs from different cultures such as the lotus flower but using the traditional Malaysian songket technique.
Handcrafted Heritage for the Modern Woman
In an artful demonstration of the Malaysian craft, Senijari presents an exquisite array of conversation pieces through its latest collection. There’s a certain focus on textures and materials: delicate organza is carefully woven into beautiful and billowing shawls, while soft Italian leather and Kelantanese songket are married into sculptural jewelry and bag creations. Altogether, its heritage that is handcrafted with the modern Malaysian woman in mind.
